Classify triangles and quadrilaterals

Name triangles by their sides or angles, and quadrilaterals by their marks: square, rectangle, rhombus, parallelogram, trapezoid or kite.

About this worksheet

Triangles are drawn to scale from the side lengths or angles written beside them, so students compare numbers and sort them: equilateral, isosceles or scalene by sides; acute, right or obtuse by angles. Quadrilaterals carry tick marks for equal sides, arrows for parallel sides and small squares for right angles, and students circle the most exact name.

A trapezoid is taken to have exactly one pair of parallel sides, and the page says so. Every name is worked out from the shape itself, and the answer key circles it.
