About color by inequality pictures

Each square holds an inequality in x. A value of x is printed above the grid, and students substitute it and color the squares where the inequality is true. The squares left white are false, and many are near misses at the boundary, such as x > 4 when x is 4.

The picture is a built-in check. Choose any whole number from −9 to 9 for x, including negative values, which change the direction of the comparison for negative coefficients.

Printing

US Letter or A4, portrait: choose your paper size above. Print at 100 percent (actual size). Use "Black and white" for the copier, or "Color" for display pages and mini books.
