Lines of symmetry worksheets

Circle the shapes that have a line of symmetry, or color squares to finish a symmetric picture.

About this worksheet

In the shapes version each row has a mix of shapes that can be folded into matching halves (such as the isosceles triangle, rectangle, kite and cross) and shapes that cannot (such as the parallelogram, the scalene triangle and the Z shape). Students circle the ones with a line of symmetry. The answer key draws the lines.

In the grid version half of a picture is colored on a square grid with a dashed line down the middle or across it. Students color the squares that mirror the colored ones. Pick the grid size and whether the line is vertical, horizontal or mixed.
