About multiplication and division word problems

Multiplication stories use equal groups, rows and rates; division stories share things equally or ask how many groups can be made. Choose multiplication, division or a mix, and set the largest factor (5, 10 or 12) to match the times tables your class knows.

Every division story divides exactly, so each answer is a whole number. There are twelve different story patterns for each operation, so a page never reads as the same story repeated.
