Measure with a ruler worksheets

Read the length of a pencil, strip or crayon against a centimeter or inch ruler.

About this worksheet

An object is drawn just above a ruler, so the ruler can be read straight off the page. The rulers are drawn at true size (one inch is one inch and one centimeter is one centimeter when the sheet is printed at 100 percent), with numbered marks and shorter marks for halves and quarters.

Choose centimeters or inches, whole units or finer marks, and whether the object starts at zero or somewhere else on the ruler. When it does not start at zero, students subtract. Inch answers are whole numbers or mixed numbers.

Printing

US Letter or A4, portrait: choose your paper size above. Print at 100 percent (actual size). Use "Black and white" for the copier, or "Color" for display pages and mini books.
