About addition and subtraction word problems

Each worksheet has short stories for adding or for subtracting, in simple words a beginning reader can decode. Subtraction stories include taking away and comparing ("how many more"). Choose addition, subtraction or a mix, and keep the numbers within 20 or within 100.

There are twelve different story patterns for each operation, with different names, objects and places, so a page never reads as the same story repeated. The worked example is a different story from the first problem, and the answer key lists every answer. Choose a theme to set the stories in a bakery, a garden, space and more, with names, foods, places and celebrations from many cultures.
