About counting objects worksheets

Each card shows a group of circles, stars, squares, triangles or diamonds. Children count them, then either write the number in a box or circle the right numeral from three close choices. Pick the largest number (3 to 20), whether the shapes sit in tidy rows of five or are scattered, and which shapes to use.

Rows of five help children who are learning to count one by one and to see five and ten. Scattered shapes are harder, because every shape has to be kept track of. An adult reads the short instruction aloud. Every sheet has a solved example and an answer key.
