Number bonds and complements

Pairs that make 10, 20, 100 or 1000 (and the 9s, 99s and 999s), as missing-number sums or as subtraction.

About this worksheet

Number bonds are the pairs of numbers that make a target: 3 and 7 make 10, 37 and 63 make 100. Choose the target from 10 up to 1000, or the "nines" targets where every pair of digits makes 9.

Write the missing number in a sum such as 37 + __ = 100, or switch to subtraction (100 − 37) to practice subtracting across zeros. For 100 and 1000 you can keep to round numbers (10, 20, 30 ...).

Printing

US Letter or A4, portrait: choose your paper size above. Print at 100 percent (actual size). Use "Black and white" for the copier, or "Color" for display pages and mini books.
