Exponents worksheets

Evaluate powers, or use the exponent rules for products, quotients and powers of powers.

About this worksheet

Choose to work out the value of powers (2 to the power of 5 is 32), or to use the rules for powers with the same base: add the exponents to multiply, subtract them to divide, multiply them for a power of a power. Rule problems ask for the missing exponent, so every answer is one whole number.

Set the largest base (2 to 10) and the largest exponent (2 to 6). No value is more than one million. Negative bases, written in parentheses, can be switched on for evaluating powers, where an even exponent gives a positive result and an odd one a negative result. Every sheet has a solved example and an answer key, and there is a large-print version.
