About opposites and absolute value worksheets

The opposite of a number is the same distance from zero on the other side, and its absolute value is that distance. Pick one skill or mix all four: write the opposite of each number, write the absolute value, circle <, = or > between two absolute values, or work out short expressions such as |−3| + |8| or |3 − 9|.

Set how far from zero the numbers go (10, 20, 50 or 100). The solved example explains the idea with distance from zero. Every sheet has an answer key, and there is a large-print version.
