Compare fractions

Compare two fractions with the same denominator, the same numerator, a benchmark of one half, or any denominators.

About this worksheet

Choose how the two fractions are related. Same denominators ask which has more parts, same numerators ask which parts are bigger, the half benchmark builds number sense, and mixed pairs need a common denominator. Students either circle the symbol (less than, equal to, greater than) or circle the greater fraction.

Turn on the bars to put a picture under each fraction. Both bars are the same length, so the pictures always agree with the numbers. Equal pairs appear only on the symbol version.

Printing
