A fraction can name part of a group as well as part of a shape. In the color pages the shapes sit in equal groups, one box for each part of the denominator. In the write pages students count the colored shapes and the total. In the find pages they turn the picture into a number: for example 2/3 of 12 is 8.
Choose the largest set (8 to 24 shapes) and how many different denominators appear. Every set divides into exactly equal groups, and the key shows the colored shapes.
