Fraction pictures: bars and circles
Write the fraction shown on a bar or circle, or color in the fraction named, with denominators from 2 to 12.
Shaded clocks show a fraction of an hour. Write the minutes, or write the fraction.
The shaded part of each clock face starts at 12 and runs clockwise, so a quarter of an hour is a quarter of the circle. Students turn a fraction of an hour into minutes, or turn minutes into a fraction in simplest form.
Begin with halves and quarters, then add thirds and sixths, and finally fifths, tenths and twelfths. Every fraction divides 60 exactly, so every answer is a whole number of minutes.
