Sort words by sound

About this worksheet

A word bank at the top and a column for each sound. Children read each word, listen for the sound and write it in the right column. Every word has exactly one of the sounds on the page.

Choose short a and i, short e, o and u, all five short vowels, long vowels with silent e, the vowel teams ai, ee and oa, or the digraphs sh, ch, th and wh.

Printing

US Letter or A4, portrait: choose your paper size above. Print at 100 percent (actual size). Use "Black and white" for the copier, or "Color" for display pages and mini books.
