Which group has more? Which has fewer?

Count two groups of shapes and circle the group with more, or the group with fewer.

About this worksheet

Each card shows two groups of the same shape. Children count each group, compare the two numbers and circle the group with more or the group with fewer. Ask one question for the whole page, or mix both, in which case the question is printed on each card. The two groups are never equal, so there is always one right answer.

Turn on "close groups" so the two numbers are only 1 or 2 apart, which cannot be settled by eye. Choose how large the groups get, from 3 up to 20, and whether the shapes sit in rows or are scattered.

Printing

US Letter or A4, portrait: choose your paper size above. Print at 100 percent (actual size). Use "Black and white" for the copier, or "Color" for display pages and mini books.
