What is on this worksheet

The two groups on each card differ by only one or two, so the child has to count both groups instead of guessing by eye.

  • Close groups (1 or 2 apart): On

You can change any of these settings above. Press "New problems" for a fresh set with the same settings, or pick Version A to Z to print different sheets for neighboring desks. The answer key always matches.

About which group has more? which has fewer?

Each card shows two groups of the same shape. Children count each group, compare the two numbers and circle the group with more or the group with fewer. Ask one question for the whole page, or mix both, in which case the question is printed on each card. The two groups are never equal, so there is always one right answer.

Turn on "close groups" so the two numbers are only 1 or 2 apart, which cannot be settled by eye. Choose how large the groups get, from 3 up to 20, and whether the shapes sit in rows or are scattered.

Printing
