Sorting and classifying shapes
Sort a group of shapes by one attribute: count each kind, or circle every shape that matches.
Count tally marks, draw tally marks for a number, or tally a list into a frequency table.
Three activities in one: read tally marks and write the number, draw tally marks to match a number, or tally a list of words into a frequency table. Tally marks are grouped in fives (four lines and a slash), so students practice counting in fives as well as reading data.
Choose the largest count (up to 30 for reading and drawing; lists keep each count at 9 or less so they fit on the page). Reading and list tables have a total row, and the answer key shows the finished table.
US Letter or A4, portrait: choose your paper size above. Print at 100 percent (actual size). Use "Black and white" for the copier, or "Color" for display pages and mini books.
